Container Fumigation

We can help you with shipping container fumigation

At DNV Transport we can assist with unpacking imported shipping containers. Our port of Brisbane facilities has an onsite designated fumigation pad area, if quarantine authorities issue an order for container fumigation.

We can perform container fumigation on shipping containers and we also have the equipment and transport to collect the container from the wharf on your behalf. The most common size shipping containers are standard 20-foot and 40-foot, but we can also fumigate containers outside this size as well as fumigate machinery such as agricultural machinery and packing materials. Our site has QAP (Quarantine Approved Premises) accreditation 1.1 and 11.2 and we have the equipment to complete all import fumigation requirements as directed by quarantine.

If you are exporting a container we can do a container fumigation and issue you or the freight forwarding company a fumigation certificate to ensure a smooth process at the receiving end.

How container fumigation helps Australia

Fumigation helps Australia stay pest and disease free by destroying any pest infestations or harmful living organisms. Risks can come from timber use as packing material in FCL deliveries as well as from the cleanliness of the container itself. Most importing countries make fumigation mandatory. Shipping containers must be free from flour, grains, soil, plant material, and animal products and animal contaminants such as bones, hide, and skin.

Fumigation is typically done for non-treated wood material used as packing material, such as crates and pallets. For machinery, we may also need to do a quarantine wash prior to performing the fumigation process.

Cargo may not be removed from a wharf or quarantine depot until all conditions issued by quarantine authorities have been met, relevant final and released direction documentation issued.
If you are planning to import cargo into Brisbane from another country, you should take the necessary steps to ensure your delivery doesn’t get held up when it gets here due to quarantine requirements.

Get Reliable Container Fumigation That Saves Your Business Time And Money

Having access to on-time container fumigation can help your business save time and money. Our expert team has a wide range of services that include biosecurity which is here to keep your containers safe and clean. Our team prioritise quality, so we will work closely with you to help find the best package that includes our different services.

The last thing any business wants is for authorities to issue fumigation. Choose DNV Transport to help eliminate this.

The Importance of Getting Container Tailgate Inspections

Biosecurity inspections are certainly not something every industry has to deal with, which often leads to few people truly understanding its importance. At DNV, we ensure that we explain the importance of these inspections so we can better prepare you for such an event and help you make informed decisions regarding the products you import or export.

We Eliminate Risks For Unwanted Pests And Contaminants

One of the most common ways this can happen is through unchecked shipping containers that have been loaded with them before coming to Australia. With DNV’s fumigation services, you can comfortably rely on us to kill any pests or contaminants before the products in the containers go anywhere else. Australia is on high alert from September – April as a number of overseas countries have issues with Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs (BMSB). Our thorough inspections will help you get your containers to their destination faster.

Minimise The Risk Of Stink Bugs During Biosecurity Targeted Seasons

During September – April, as temperatures drop and the day length shortens, brown marmorated stink bugs retreat to dark, warm areas. BMSB overwinter in buildings and homes, as well as in containers because they find these places to be suitable.

It Is Against The Law To Not Have Routine Inspections

Without them, the law prohibits you from removing containers off the wharf or quarantine depot. Our fumigations can play a vital role in making sure your containers arrive at their destination on time.

The last thing any business needs to for your shipping containers to be stopped at the harbour because the necessary inspections didn’t occur. If rules require you to fumigate your container, having access to a team that can do it for you makes the experience much easier. If you don’t, your container might end up staying in the wharf much longer than you can afford.

We Conduct Effective BMSB And Other Pest Fumigation

In order to manage an effective BMSB fumigation, goods must be presented in a manner that allows the heat or fumigant to reach all external and internal surfaces of the goods reachable to BMSB. To maximise your tailgate inspections or fumigation, we recommend you prepare your containers.

To help you better understand how you can do that, we have a few pointers that will assist you in maximising the efficiency of your container checks when it arrives.

1. As soon as you know the arrival date for the vessel carrying your container, give us a call and organise with our team to start preparations. We will then go through the necessary channels to find out which wharf your container will show up at and collect it on your behalf when it arrives.

2. Remember to mention any special instructions to us when we book your import collection. Without these instructions, we risk receiving your container in a way that could end up damaging your products. While we will always ask to make sure, it is best to consider it beforehand and have the necessary information ready.

3. Remember that we also have quarantine services available as a QAP (Quarantine Approved Premises). We have a quarantine section in our warehouse to store your goods safely for inspections, fumigations, and washes.

Our team knows how to suggest and provide the correct solutions to your container-related requirements. Whether you want us to pack, unpack, transport, or provide biosecurity-related services, we can do it.
